Tugaya Embroidery Collection

This collection presents a contemporary interpretation inspired by the traditional Landap of the Maranao, developed in collaboration with master artisans from Tugaya, Lanao del Sur.

Each piece begins with a carefully selected base fabric and is brought to life through extensive manual embroidery, executed using a sewing machine guided entirely by hand. Every motif is stitched with precision, reflecting both discipline and artistic intuition developed over years of practice.

The process is slow and deliberate. A single piece may take between three to seven months to complete, depending on the intricacy of the design. This extended creation time allows for depth, density, and detail that cannot be replicated through mass production.

The patterns draw from cultural forms and visual traditions, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens while maintaining respect for their origins. Each work stands as a collaboration between material, maker, and heritage.

No two pieces are ever identical. Each is a singular composition—defined by the rhythm of stitching, the balance of pattern, and the hand of the artisan behind it.

This collection is not produced at scale. It exists in limited quantities, shaped by time, skill, and the continued practice of embroidery traditions in Tugaya.
